Dr. von Hehn is a geneticist and molecular biologist with almost 15 years of experience in clinical drug development. She currently leads the Rett Syndrome Research Trust’s clinical research efforts to facilitate and expedite the development of treatments for Rett syndrome, and spearheads the RSRT initiative to create novel digital endpoints. She is currently directing an FDA-regulated clinical trial exploring biosensors in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of ketamine in children with Rett syndrome.
In industry Jana worked on various clinical development and operations teams in oncology, dermatology and respiratory indications, as well as in rare neurodevelopmental and central nervous system disorders including fragile X syndrome, autism, pediatric and adult seizure disorders, and life-threatening status epilepticus. She has extensive experience in clinical development, protocol design, trial execution, data analysis, and has engaged with FDA and patient advocacy groups for indications without a regulatory precedent. Jana earned her PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Emory University and her BS in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida.
